Located 2-miles from Tysons Corner, and close to downtown Washington, D.C., and both Dulles International Airport and Ronald Regan National Airport, the McLean Commercial Revitalization District (CRD) entices visitors, businesses, and residents to live, work and play with its optimal mix of uses and proximity to major transportation arteries—I-495, I-95, George Washington Parkway, and I-66. In 2013, the areas transportation network will be enhanced by the completion of the Tysons East Metro Station. True to the communities 1997 vision to preserve McLean's sophisticated village ambiance, new projects are envisioned that will transform and revitalize the heart of downtown McLean to a lively, community activity center.
McLean CRD: A Cosmopolitan Village
The McLean CRD’s rich tradition of community involvement and pride, preserves McLean's reputation as a cosmopolitan village with sophisticated community serving retail and business centers. The 230 acre McLean CRD is centered at the intersection of Chain Bridge Road, and Old Dominion Drive.
Fairfax County staff works collaboratively with the McLean Revitalization Corporation (MRC), McLean Planning Committee (MPC), business owners and community stakeholders to preserve the communities high standards, and sense of place that takes advantage of its prime location and creates opportunities to foster community enhancing retail and entertainment opportunities to support the long-term economic viability of the business community, while protecting and enhancing the architectural quality of the McLean CRD.
Implementation of the community’s 1997 vision to create a North and South Village is on-going with Streetscape Improvement and Undergrounding of Utilities Projects, completion of two major North Village projects, and the on-going planning of a “McLean Main Street” in the South Village. The Main Street Project will transform the heart of downtown McLean to a mixed use development that would include a mix of shopping, restaurants, and residential uses to be enjoyed for generations to come.
